The Water Master Solids Pump is a direct drive pump with dual mechanical SIC seals, delivering more pressure than asynchronous pumps and providing more water for bigger, taller waterfalls. The oil-free design makes the Water Master Solids Pump safe for aquatic life.
When choosing the right pump for your water feature, factors such as pond type, head height, and friction loss all need to be considered to determine the minimum pump size requirements. For a water garden with a few small goldfish, you should circulate the total pond water volume every 2 hours. For a fish pond with several small fish, you should circulate the total pond water volume every 1 hour. For a koi pond with several large fish, you should circulate the total pond water volume every 3/4 of an hour.
To calculate the head height, take the vertical height of your waterfall, the distance between where your pump is (typically in the skimmer) and where your waterfall is, and add the static head pressure (pipe and fittings) - 1' for every 10" of tubing and 1' for every elbow or "T" fitting.
When sizing your Freeze Flex Pond Hose, make sure you choose a pipe that will not restrict the flow of your pump. If your hose is 1.5" and you buy a 6,000 GPH pump, your pipe will only allow 4,400 GPH to pass through it, wasting electricity and not providing the desired result. Use the provided chart to determine the best size tubing for your pump size.
